Mule deer hunts are conducted in zone 434. Mule deer populations are high with several bucks in the 20 in. range available. To harvest the bigger Mule deer bucks you will need to pass on several of these smaller deer. The season is open from Sept. 17 - Nov. 30. You have the option of a pre rut high country hunt or the rut hunt that occurs in late Oct. - Nov 30. The later hunt would likely be done from the cabins and could involve the use of horses, spot/stalk, still hunting, calling techniques.

Three Mule deer permits are available. Hunts can be done 1x1 or 2x1. This hunt is very similar in style and quality to the sheep hunts. You are hunting the same areas as for sheep except you are looking for deer in different spots. While hunting Mule Deer it is not unusual to see lots of sheep. Best times are after Oct 15.
