Elk hunts are conducted in zone 430. Dates are Sept 17-Nov. 30 . Elk populations are not extremely high but the numbers usually increase later in the season when they move out of the alpine regions.

Bulls are of good size (in the 270 in. plus category). Six point or better bulls are legal. Hunts are done from tent camps using horses or on a large river using boats.

One permit is available with the rut period of Sept 17- 30 being the most productive. Other dates can be effective as well especially late November when weather conditions make for some great opportunity.
